Smackdown on Chang’an Avenue, 1989

The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers wanted us to see class, style,
something sensational, they wanted us to see something
fabulous. Jimmy and them flapped little American flags, smiles
for the TV audience.

Drew's dad stomped into the den and chunked the dial
to NBC. This is history, boys. One day you'll remember it,
seeing it happen live
. Brokaw added, It’s new day in China
in so many ways
.

Gunfire, rocks, Molotovs. Begrudging bags of Rold Gold, we noted,
dimly, Beijing moms pressing comradeship with boy soldiers from
country homes. Quiet people came by 2s and 3s to see smoldering
barricades. There was no sound.

So, Drew chunked it back to WWF Prime Time. Rick Martel's white-
toothed cartwheel slingshotted The Anvil into the Bushwhackers.
Brutus the Beefcake scared Scary Sherri's hair and The Red Rooster
cock-a-doodle-dooed,

and there Tank Man stood, no-selling the Type 59. Its driver a chicken
for a smackdown with the babyface now clambering up its plating to chat
with tyranny's jobber. We always chunk the knob, I do remember that,
on a screwjob like this.

in the style of BROTHER LOVE:

“Thaaank youuuu. At this tiiime, I would like to introduce to youuuu, a man whose mental abilitieees supersede anyone of youuuu, a man who has appropriately been caaaalled by a naaaaame that best describes his intellectual prowesssss. I give to you nowwww, hailin’ from the stuffy pine scrubs and scalding highways of Orlando, Florida, the one, the only, Brother Genius Brian Salmons.”
